PAU alumnus establishes scholarship in memory of his school teacher
LUDHIANA: The PAU alumnus, Dr Yograj Sharma, Senior Plant Pathologist (retd.) has donated Rs 5 lakh to the College of Agriculture to establish a scholarship in the memory of his school teacher S. Sunder Singh Ghuman.
Dr Sharma stated that the scholarship is a tribute to his school teacher S. Sunder Singh Ghuman, whose unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement played a significant role throughout his academic journey. As a mark of gratitude and respect, Dr Sharma wished to commemorate his invaluable contribution by creating a lasting legacy that would benefit deserving students.
The scholarship will be awarded to meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds, enabling them to continue their education without financial constraints. Dr Sharma expressed hope that the scholarship would not only ease the financial burden on talented students but also inspire a culture of gratitude, compassion, and service among future generations. He remarked that investing in the education of deserving youth is one of the most meaningful ways to honour those who have positively influenced our lives.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, appreciated the generous contribution by Dr Sharma.
Dr Charanjit Singh Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Dr Sharma for his philanthropic initiative. Dr Aulakh further stated that the scholarship would provide valuable support to meritorious students from economically weaker sections and stand as a lasting tribute to the ideals of kindness, mentorship, and educational excellence represented by S. Sunder Singh Ghuman.
