LUDHIANA: An exposure visit of second-year students of BSc (Hons.) Fashion Designing programme to Vardhman Apparels in Ludhiana was organized under the guidance of Dr Harminder Kaur Saini, Head, Department of Apparel and Textile Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). This visit was aimed to provide students with practical exposure of the various operations in an apparel industry. A total of 23 students accompanied by their Course Coordinator, Dr Prerna Kapila participated in the visit.
The exposure visit helped in bridging the gap between classroom learning and industrial practices by familiarizing students with various stages of apparel production. During the visit, students observed the industrial work environment and gained an understanding of apparel manufacturing processes, production planning, garment construction, quality control and finishing of apparels. The students interacted with the industry personnel and gained valuable insights into the entire process of order completion followed in the apparel industry. Such industry visits are vital component of experiential learning and help students to develop a better understanding of the changing requirements and functioning of our industrial stakeholders.
