Youth’s Death Sparks Road Blockade in Dharamshala
DHARAMSHALA: Tension prevailed at Shilla Chowk on the Dharamshala-Gaggal road after the death of a young scooter rider injured in a road accident, prompting his family and local residents to block the main road with the body on Saturday.
The family alleged that a female doctor from Tanda Medical College was driving on the wrong side of the road when her car hit the scooter. The critically injured youth was initially taken to Dharamshala Zonal Hospital and later referred to Tanda Medical College, where he subsequently died.

The family has also alleged medical negligence at Tanda Medical College, claiming that the victim was removed from the ventilator and shifted to a general ward despite his critical condition. They have demanded strict action against those responsible and financial assistance for the deceased’s wife and three young children, for whom he was the sole breadwinner.
Dharamshala SDM Mohit Rattan and ASP, accompanied by police personnel, reached the spot and assured the protesters of an impartial investigation. Following written assurances from the administration, the family removed the body and traffic on the Dari-Shilla-Chaitru route was restored.
SDM Mohit Rattan said the doctor involved in the accident had been summoned for questioning and legal proceedings. He also added that if medical negligence is established in Tanda medical college , a separate inquiry would be conducted as per the rules.
