PHAGWARA : A meeting of the District Youth Congress, Kapurthala, was held at Hotel Regenta in Phagwara on Sunday evening. The meeting, attended by around 140-150 party workers and supporters, focused on the Youth Congress Punjab campaign “Har Ghar Jhanda, Har Ghar Panja” and preparations for the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Addressing the gathering, PYC president urged Youth Congress workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and begin cadre mobilisation drives across the districts. He said the meeting was aimed at interacting with youth workers, strengthening coordination among them and expanding the party’s organisational base. He added that district-level meetings would be organised across Punjab under the “Har Ghar Jhanda, Har Ghar Panja” campaign to motivate more youngsters to join the Congress.
Interacting with the media, PYC president alleged that six examination papers had been leaked during the Aam Aadmi Party government’s tenure in Punjab and said the Youth Congress would continue its agitation over the issue. He said the organisation had earlier gheraoed the Vidhan Sabha and would launch further protests targeting AAP leaders until Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains resigned.
On the controversy surrounding the alleged “purification” of a rally site in Uttarakhand following a programme addressed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, PYC president accused the BJP-led Union government of being anti-Dalit and condemned the reported incident.
He further said that under the “Har Ghar Jhanda, Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, the Youth Congress would prepare a report card on the performance of AAP ministers, focusing on what he alleged were failures of the state government. He said issues including the deteriorating law-and-order situation, murders, extortion, drugs and gangsterism would be highlighted through protest programmes against the Punjab government.
Prominent leaders present included Phagwara Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Kapurthala District Youth Congress president Agam Prashar, Congress Phagwara Media Cell in-charge Saurav Sharma and former Marketing Committee Phagwara chairman Naresh Bhardwaj.
