AMRITSAR: Condemning the racist attack and rape on a Sikh girl in the Old Derby area of Birmingham in England, Shirpmaani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has termed it as a shame for humanity.
In a statement issued by the SGPC office, Advocate Dhami said that such incidents not only affect the victims but also create an atmosphere of fear in the entire community.
He said that governments should work seriously to stop the continuous racist attacks taking place abroad and the culprits should be severely punished.
The SGPC President expressed concern that hate crimes against minority communities in the UK and other countries are on the rise.
He demanded strict punishment for the culprits involved in this case and justice for the victim girl.
Advocate Dhami also asked the External Affairs Ministry of the Government of India to raise this matter with the UK government and ensure the safety of the Sikh community living there.
The SGPC President also appealed to the entire Sikh community to unite and raise their voices against such crimes and thwart the forces spreading hatred.
