Six Associates of Foreign-Based Gangster Jagga Phukiwal Held in Sultanpur Lodhi Café Extortion Firing Case

PHAGWARA: Kapurthala Police has arrested six alleged associates, including two juveniles, of foreign-based gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jagga Phukiwal in connection with the extortion and firing incident outside a Barista Café in Sultanpur Lodhi. Police have also recovered a country-made pistol and two motorcycles allegedly used in the crime.
Addressing the media, SP (Detective) Harinder Singh Gill and DSP Sultanpur Lodhi Dhirendra Verma said that on June 21, the owner of the Barista Café received an extortion demand of ₹15 lakh through a foreign WhatsApp number. When the café owner refused to pay, unidentified assailants allegedly opened aerial fire outside the café to intimidate him. The responsibility for the incident was later claimed on social media.
Following the complaint, Sultanpur Lodhi Police registered an FIR on June 24 under the Arms Act and other relevant provisions and launched an intensive investigation. Special teams led by CIA In-charge SI Raman Kumar and SHO Sultanpur Lodhi SI Davinderpal Singh were constituted to trace those involved.
Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police arrested Amit Singh of Desal village, Harmanroop Singh and Jasmanpreet Singh, both residents of Tibba village, Jagdeep Singh of Toti village, along with two juveniles allegedly involved in the conspiracy.
Police said the country-made pistol used in the firing and two motorcycles employed in the commission of the offence were recovered from the accused.
During the investigation, police found that the attack had allegedly been orchestrated by foreign-based gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jagga, a native of Shahjahanpur (Phukiwal) village under Sultanpur Lodhi police station limits, who had claimed responsibility for the incident on social media. He has now also been nominated as an accused in the case.
According to SP (Detective) Harinder Singh Gill, Jagga allegedly operates from abroad, using his local network to gather intelligence and execute extortion activities. He is stated to be facing multiple criminal cases in Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts.
