College of Veterinary Science and Green Club Organizes Plantation Drive
LUDHIANA: As part of the ongoing plantation drive of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, The Green Club of College of Veterinary Science (COVS), organized a tree plantation drive at the premises of G+8 Hostel with the objective of enhancing the green cover of the campus and promoting environmental awareness-cum-responsibility among students.
The drive was inaugurated by Dr. S. S. Randhawa, Dean, COVS, Ludhiana along with the Officers of the University, faculty members, students and supporting staff. The faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in the drive by planting saplings, thereby reaffirming their commitment towards the environmental conservation and sustainable campus development.
The Green Club of COVS, Ludhiana played an active role in organizing the drive and motivating the students for this noble cause. The active participation of students showed their commitment and willingness to contribute towards the development of a greener and healthier campus. The students were also encouraged to take responsibility for the regular care and nurturing of the planted saplings to ensure their healthy growth and survival.
Dr. Randhawa appreciated the active participation of faculty, students and staff in the plantation drive. He opined that this drive is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the hostel surroundings, improve the local microenvironment, provide shade and contribute towards biodiversity conservation on the campus. He also thanked the help rendered by Estate Organisation and Director of Students’ Welfare in conducting the drive.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, applauded the efforts of the College and Green Club in organizing the plantation drive. He emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and especially appreciated the involvement of students towards making the campus greener, cleaner and more sustainable.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment by the participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings and contribute towards environmental sustainability, aptly reflecting the message:
“ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਓ, ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਬਚਾਓ, ਭਵਿੱਖ ਸਵਾਰੋ।”
