Meeting of Dharam Prachar Committee held under leadership of S. Harjinder Singh

CHANDIGARH:A meeting of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) was held today under the leadership of SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, at the Sikh body’s sub-office in Chandigarh on Friday.

In the meeting, apart from discussion on Samagams (congregations) dedicated to centenaries of Morcha Guru Ka Bagh and Shaheedi (Martyrdom) Saka (Massacre) Sri Panja Sahib, several works of DPC were also approved.

SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said that the 100 year centenary Samagams of Morcha Guru Ka Bagh and Saka Sri Panja Sahib, which hold important place in Sikh history, will be organised grandly as per Panthak traditions. He said the Samagam related to the centenary of Morcha Guru Ka Bagh will be held at Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh, Ghukewali (Amritsar) from August 6 to 8, 2022. Similarly, a special Samagam dedicated to the centenary of Saka Sri Panja Sahib will be held at Amritsar on October 30, 2022 besides the Samagam by SGPC at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Pakistan.

He said communication in this regard is being done with the Government of Pakistan, and the response is awaited from their side.

SGPC President said that as per the feelings of the Sangat (community), special tributes and respect would be paid to the martyrs by doing Gurbani Kirtan at the place where the martyrdom massacre had taken place on the railway track near Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Pakistan on October 30, 1922.

Meanwhile, the booklets dedicated to both the centenaries published by SGPC’s DPC were also released on this occasion, which records the history related to these historical days. These booklets have been written by the scholars of SGPC’s Sikh Itihas Research Board, which will be distributed free among the Sangat by DPC.

Later, a meeting of the Education Committee presided over by SGPC President was also held to discuss administrative and academic works of educational institutions functional under the management of SGPC. Discussion was held to streamline the work of education institutions in a better manner and several administrative processes were approved.

Rampal Singh, S. Manjit Singh, OSD to SGPC President S. Satbir Singh, additional secretary S. Sukhminder Singh, secretary DPC S. Balwinder Singh, S. Kuldeep Singh, S. Paramjit Singh, S. Gurinder Singh, S. Simarjeet Singh, deputy director education Principal Satwant Kaur, in-charge S. Gurinderpal Singh, S. Karaj Singh, S. Bikramjit Singh, S. Gurpreet Singh, and more officials.
