SDS College Jadla Organises Webinar with the theme of “Catch The Rain” and “Save Water” in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Nawanshahar

NAWANSHAHAR: Sadar Dilbagh Singh Government College Jadla, SBS Nagar organised a webinar with the theme of “Catch The Rain” and “Save Water” in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Nawanshahar, today.

Nearly 80 students participated in the webinar through online and offline mode. Mrs Simmi Johal (Principal), Mrs Priya Bawa (Assistant Professor) and Dr Baljeet Kaur (Assistant Professor) SDS Government College Jadla were the key speakers.

Mrs Vandna Lao and Mr Gobind Adhikari were present as the representatives from Nehru Yuva Kendra. College staff and students participated with a great enthusiasm. This webinar was in line of government initiatives towards the project Jal Shakti Abhiyan; Catch The Rain 2023 with the theme Source Sustainability for Drinking Water launched by Honorable president of India Smt.

Dropadi Murmu. Webinar started with an introductory speech given by Mrs Priya Bawa. Each one of the speaker highlighted the various aspects and importance of water conservation and Rain water harvesting structure with the live examples of industrialist such as Mukesh Ambani, how he changes the map of Jamnagar to dry aired area to a green one from where we export mangoes. Participants were further informed about Drip farming system adopted by Rajasthan in collaboration with Israel government. An overview of new agriculture technology such as hydroponic system was told to participants.

A very different concept of catching the drinking water from the air sources such as adopted by the Delhi Government as also telling the Peru has large public resources were the water has harvested from the air. Smt Vandna Lao also addressed the participants about the same. She also shares information regarding various on going and upcoming projects of Nehru Yuva Kendra. The session was concluded by taking pledge to catch the rain, conserve water, grow trees and to spread the word in their community.
