Prestigious Acharya P.C.Roy award conferred upon Professor (Dr) Bhupinder Singh Bhoop

CHANDIGARH: Professor (Dr) Bhupinder Singh Bhoop has been conferred upon the prestigious "Acharya P. C. Ray Memorial Gold Medal Award" by Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), as a recognition to his outstanding contribution in pharmaceutical education, research, industry and pharmaceutical profession, on 17th November 2024 in Satyajit Ray Auditorium, Kolkata.

In the inaugural program of a glittering and festive Pharma conclave, to mark the beginning of 63rd National Pharmacy Week celebrations, Prof Bhoop also delivered the "Acharya P. C. Ray Memorial Oration Lecture." An Honorary Visiting Professor, and former Chairperson, Dean of University Institute of Pharm. Sciences (UIPS), Dean-Alumni Relations, Senator (Fellow) and Member-Syndicate at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Bhoop is also serving as an Emeritus Professor at Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab.

The aforesaid coveted award was conferred upon him by Professor (Dr) R.N. Gupta, National President of IPA, and Mr Gautam Podder, Asstt. Director, MSME Ministry, Govt. of India, and other dignitaries.

At Panjab University, Professor Bhoop has been Chairman of the UIPS (2014-17), Fellow & Member - University Senate & Syndicate (2012-16), Dean - Faculty of Pharm. Sciences (2012-14), and Dean Alumni Relations (2007-11). He has also been the Coordinator of UGC Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Pharm. Sciences(2011-18), and Founder-Coordinator of National UGC Centre for Excellence in Nano Biomedical Applications (2011-2020).

Globally renowned for his research work on QbD-enabled development of drug nanocarrier systems, Professor Bhoop has to his credit about 440 publications, including 16 books, 8 patents (3 granted) and tech. transfers of threen anotech-based drug delivery products to Pharma industry. A widely travelled scientist, he has delivered over 380 invited talks and onsite workshops in India and overseas, thus training thousands industrial scientists from leading pharma industrial houses. He has duly trained over a thousand industrial scientists under his guidance through various onsite industrial training seminars, workshops and scientific forums. He has guided over 110 researchers, including 35 Ph.D.’s and 11 post-doctorates, and has earned research grants of over 7.30 crores from the governmental and corporate sectors. Based on his quantum and quality of the published work, he has adorned among Top 2% of Scientists of the World (by Stanford University, USA), consecutively for six years from 2019 to2024, on the basis of career-long performance as well as the last one year’s performance.

His work has decorated Prof Bhoop with numerous awards & accolades like, Leading Educators of World (UK) 2007, Pharma Buzz Personality Award 2008, Shiksha Rattan Puruskar 2008, Innovative Scientist Award 2012 (CIIPP), QbD& Product Performance Award 2012 & 2013 (Amer.
