Dr Zora Singh said that this Gym has been opened in memory of Satnam Singh Khatra, who was a renowned sportsperson of Punjab. He said that working out at the gym has become a very important part of our daily life, as regular physical activities is one of the most important things that one needs to do for good health.

He said that as there is a lack of open spaces in cities nowadays and there are security concerns as well, gyms have emerged as the primary mediums of getting one’s everyday share of required physical fitness. The gym would provide the students a space and atmosphere for maintaining their physical health.

Dr Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, also shared her views that exercise boosts muscle development, bone growth, and cardiovascular well-being. Regular exercise has also been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer and thus it is significant to make exercise an integral part of life.
