AMRITSAR: The post-graduate department of Physics, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) today organised the 6th National Conference on “Current Advances in Physical Sciences”. Prof. B.P. Singh from Aligarh Muslim University, who was a ‘Guest of Honour’ and a renowned name in the field of experimental nuclear physics, Prof. Bir Bikram Singh from Akal University, Talwandi Sabho was a Keynote speaker and Dr.Anupinder Singh and Dr.Sandeep Sharma from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar were the resource persons who all shared valuable tips and new developments in the fields with students and faculty..
Principal Dr. Mehal Singh was the chief guest of this conference. In a keynote lecture, Prof. BirBikram Singh delivered his talk on topic “Einstein to Higgs-Boson: In view of current advances in the field of Physics”. He expressed his hope that students and teachers can learn a lot from our mother tongue, and through the correlation of physics with philosophy, language, experience and mysticism.
Dr. Anupinder Singh has delivered his lecture on “Amazing world of Ceramics”. He explained the progress and importance of ceramics in present time in a very fruitful way.Dr.Sandeep Sharma has delivered his lecture on “Two dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides and their applications” in very interesting way of presentation. Dr.Bindiya Arora from Guru Nanak Dev University chaired the technical session of invited talks. Principal Dr Mehal Singh addressed the participants and highlights the importance of these types of programs and explained how these can enhance the student’s interest towards the research and current advances in science. Different participants from various institutes presented their research work through poster presentations. Dr.Aman Mahanjan and Dr.Harjeet Kaur from GNDU evaluated the posters and best posters were honoured.
Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Head of the physics department thanked our invited guest and speakers for sharing invaluable thoughts with students and faculty which would certainly enhance their knowledge and interest in Physics and technology. She appreciated the Organising Secretary of the Conference ‘Dr. Mohan Singh’ for the success of this conference. She also thanked Dr.Taminder Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof. Dawinder Singh Registrar, Dr.Daljeet Singh Dean Students Welfare, and other faculty members and heads of various department for cooperation. Dr.Gurpartap Singh, Prof. GursharanKaur, Dr.Sanjit Amrita Kaur, Dr.Iqbal Singh, Dr.Gurinder pal Singh, Dr.Joga Singh, Dr.Kamalpreet Khun Khun, Dr.Parvinder Kaur and Dr.Harmanmeet Kaur of physics department are all actively participated and played an important role to organise such an important conference.
