MANDI GOBINDGARH: Department of Social Sciences and Languages of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh organised an international seminar on “Global Education Youth Migration: Challenges and Possibilities”. Dr Renu Sharma, Assistant Professor, formally welcomed Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, as Chief Guest at the event. Sukhdeep Gill, Director, Indian Operations, SUNOH, Canada and Dr Pushpinder Singh, Senior Consultant, HOD, Department of Anaesthesia, GTB Hospital, Ludhiana, were the guest speakers at the seminar.

Dr Zora Singh in his address said that the topic of seminar is of high contemporary relevance and the event would be really fruitful for the young students who see their future in foreign countries and need guidance for the same.

Sukhdeep Singh spoke about the problems faced by Indian students in foreign countries and shared his views on how Indian students can plan and research before moving abroad to minimise their struggles and anxieties.

Dr Pushpinder singh spoke about psychological problems of the students who move abroad as they struggle with loneliness and depression because of their being away from their families. He said that the students who are planning to settle in foreign countries need to train their minds for the struggles and challenges they may face in order to settle down alone in an altogether new country. This is one aspect of migration that has not been given due attention.

Dr Ram Singh Gurna thanked the chief guest, and the guest speakers. He said that more than 250 students had attended the seminar and he also proposed a vote of thanks.
