CHANDIGARH: “Today, the suicide of a very honest, well-educated, and capable officer of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, Dr. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, is a major shock for the state. Due to the atrocities and political pressure exerted by an Aam Aadmi Party minister, he was forced to take his own life, ” said Ashwani Sharma, Working State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab.
Sharma said that the truth is that Minister Laljit Bhullar had applied for a warehouse tender in the name of his father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar. When the tender could not be approved due to failure to meet the warehouse guidelines and conditions—where a DM has no direct role—the minister began exerting pressure using his authority.
He alleged that Minister Bhullar crossed all limits of brutality by calling Dr. Gagandeep to his residence, publicly humiliating him, physically assaulting him, and, in an abuse of power, even stripping a gazetted officer and recording a video. Ashwani Sharma said the situation escalated to the extent that threats were issued through gangsters to abduct and kill Dr. Gagandeep’s family.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with Dr. Gagandeep’s family and all members of the union in this difficult time, ” Sharma said. He strongly demanded that the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann order an immediate CBI investigation into the entire matter so that the truth can come out.
