AMRITSAR: Prof. Narpinder Singh, a former professor of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, and currently Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University, Dehradun, has been recognised among the top two percent scientists globally in the 2025 Elsevier and Stanford University rankings. As a J.C. Bose National Fellow, he holds the No. 1 rank in India in Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry and Food Science, with an overall national rank of 35 across all disciplines. Globally, he is ranked 38th in Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry, 23rd in Food Science, and 3335th overall.
Prof. Singh, India’s most cited scientist in his field, boasts an h-index of 97 and over 35, 000 citations. His extensive contributions include 425 publications, comprising 326 research papers, 48 review articles, 25 book chapters, and two books published with the Royal Society of Chemistry and Springer. His research, supported by agencies like DST, SERB, ICAR, and DBT, has significantly advanced agricultural and food sciences.
Before joining Graphic Era in January 2023, Prof. Singh served GNDU for 28 years in roles such as Director Research and Head of the Department of Food Science & Technology, and spent five years at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. His global academic engagements include visiting professorships in the UK, USA, Japan, and China.
A fellow of prestigious academies like the Indian National Science Academy and the Royal Society of Chemistry, Prof. Singh has earned numerous accolades, including the J.C. Bose National Fellowship, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award, and INSA Young Scientist Medal. He has guided over 40 Ph.D. scholars, nurturing future researchers.
