49 LPU Faculty Ranked Among World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford, with 8 in India’s Top 20 List

PHAGWARA: India’s growing research capabilities have gained global recognition, with 49 faculty members from Lovely Professional University (LPU) ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University, USA. Among them, eight have secured positions in the top 20 within India in their respective fields, marking a significant rise from last year’s 34 faculty members on the same global list.

 The Stanford–Elsevier evaluation, based on standardised citation indicators, H-index, and research impact, highlights some of the most influential scientific contributions worldwide. Eight LPU research experts achieved distinguished national positions, including 1st in Neurology & Neurosurgery, 2nd in Food Science, 5th in Education, 13th in Dairy & Animal Science & Legal & Forensic Medicine, 16th & 19th in Optoelectronics & Photonics and 18th in Materials. 

Altogether, the recognized faculty represent 21 research domains, reflecting the depth and diversity of LPU’s academic ecosystem. Strong clusters were observed in Pharmacology & Pharmacy (7 faculty), Optoelectronics & Photonics (6 faculty), Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing (5 faculty), Plant Biology & Botany (5 faculty), Biotechnology (3 faculty), and Materials Science (3 faculty). Additional representation came from applied physics, chemical physics, food science, dairy and animal science, networking and telecommunications, education, legal and forensic medicine, microbiology, neurology and neurosurgery, organic chemistry, nuclear and particle physics, and environmental sciences.
