AMRITSAR: In a solemn ceremony held under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, the distinguished book and documentary “Spiritual Journey of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib” was presented to the university as a noble tribute marking the 350th Martyrdom Year of the ninth Sikh Guru.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, hailed it as “a fine example of service to a larger cause” that beautifully reflects the divinely-blessed journey of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib and the lasting, inspirational impact of his life and teachings.
He described the book as offering fresh insight into the history, inspiration, and eternal values of the ninth Sikh Guru, revered as Hind Di Chadar for his supreme sacrifice in defence of religious freedom and human dignity. On this occasion Prof. Palwinder Singh, Deen Academic Affairs, Prof. KS chahal Registrar, Prof Vandna Bhalla Director Research, Sh. Parveen Kumar, Director PR and other officials were present.
The Vice Chancellor warmly acknowledged the dedicated efforts of author Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab, for compiling this monumental volume at the most appropriate time—the 350th Martyrdom Year. Prof. Singh announced that the book will serve as a pious tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s unparalleled legacy and will be of immense interest and value to students, faculty, and citizens of Amritsar. He assured that the university will make it accessible across its libraries and departments to inspire present and future generations.
Earlier in the day, author Harpreet Sandhu placed the first copy at the feet of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, the sacred birthplace of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. The book, recently released by Hon’ble Governor of Punjab Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria at Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh, carries a message from the Governor, preface by Prof. Pritam Singh (Emeritus Professor, Oxford Brookes University, UK), foreword by Padma Shri Bhai Harjinder Singh Srinagar Wale, and greetings from SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami.
