PATIALA: The Gian Sagar Hospital run by the Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust is all set to welcome new students of the MBBS course as counselling for medical college admissions at the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences has been completed.
The Medical Council of India had given its nod to the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital, to admit 150 students in the MBBS from the current academic session.
A Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital spokesman said the management had expressed its deep gratitude to the Punjab government particularly Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for grant of the essentiality certificate which facilitated it to get MCI nod for admitting 150 students in MBBS course.
Dr Kamaljit Singh, Principal of the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital, said that the college had modern hostels with high end facilities. It had a well stocked library, sprawling lawns and mess facilities to provide quality food to the students.
The spokesman said the decision to reopen the hospital had been taken on persistent demand of the people of the area to expedite reopening of the Gian Sagar Hospital which catered to the medical and healthcare needs of hundreds of villages in the vicinity of the hospital.
Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital emerged a front runner in treatment of Coronavirus infected patients. According to Col SPS Goraya, Medical Superintendent Col SPS Goraya said that the hospital participated in a big way in the concerted efforts of the Punjab government to fight the deadly Coronavirus.
With a view to mitigating the hardships being faced by the needy the hospital had made available to the government 300 beds exclusively for Coronavirus infected patients. This made the hospital the only hospital in the State to have the highest number of available beds for Coronavirus patients.
The Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital, which had closed down on April 5, 2017, is one of the best hospitals in this part of the country where healthcare facilities are available at very reasonable and affordable rates. The rates here are economical and services are at par with corporate hospitals.
The hospital has already started multi super specialties in almost all branches of medicine and surgery besides having the best pathological laboratories which are equipped with the best machines.
