PATIALA: Scholarships worth over Rs 23 crore will be provided by the Desh Bhagat University in session 2023-24 to students in different categories.
Dr Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University, and Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-President, DBU, disclosing this at a press conference here today said that a special scholarship scheme named as DBEST (Desh Bhagat University Entrance Scholarship Test) is being offered by the University for meritorious and needy students.
Under DBEST, up to 100 percent scholarships are given to the students who clear the entrance test. With this initiative, the DBU is paving the way to make education accessible and affordable.
Dr Sandeep Singh said the university was offering about 200+ courses in the field of Paramedical, Nursing, Dental, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Management, Languages, Law, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cyber Security and many more.
He also shared his views on NEP 2020 and highlighted that the basic aim and objective of NEP is to make education universally accessible from primary to secondary level. It helps in building a relationship between the learner and society at large scale.
Dr Sandeep Singh also said that Desh Bhagat University seeks to pave the way for flexible and lifelong learning and encourages students to choose their appropriate academic path. The Multiple Entry and Exit System (MEES) is the cornerstone of the new National Education Policy in higher education, which DBU is already following
Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-President, emphasized that the University is carving a niche in the fields of higher education, research, sports, placements, innovation and entrepreneurship. He said Shakti Scholarships are being provided to girl students under ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao’ initiative. The University also provides sports scholarships for the benefit and encouragement of the budding sportspersons.
Dr Sadawarti said the University has an all year around active placement cell as placements give students an important direction to move forward in life. The regular placement drives in the University help the students to choose whether they want to get into the working industry right away or focus on a further degree and also gives them valuable experience of facing interviews of various reputed companies.
