MANDI GOBINDGARH:: On the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev ji path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib was organized at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh Campus.
Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, Dr Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, Dr Sandeep Singh, President, DBU, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-President were present at the event.
Dr Zora Singh said that the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev ji changed the entire character of Sikhism radically. He added that Guru Sahib was arrested under the orders of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and asked to convert to Islam, but Guru Arjan Dev ji refused to accept Islam, was tortured and martyred in 1606. His martyrdom day reminds us of the history and significance of sacrifices and values of Sikh Gurus and inspires us to follow the path of enlightenment and humanity.
Dr Virender Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Col Pardeep Kumar, Registrar, Dr LS Bedi, Dean Academic Affairs and all the faculty and staff members of the University organised “Chabeel Langar” outside the University Gate.
