With the COVID 19 pandemic, the IPL 2021 had been suspended in April and announced to continue later. The dates have been set, and the remaining part of IPL 2021 will continue from 19 September. All 31 matches will be held in UAE and Oman after India was suspected of having a third wave of COVID 19.

Eight teams are playing in the Indian Premier League 2021; Mumbai Indians, Afghanistan, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals.

Bowlers are having a difficult time in the Indian Premier League because the attention they once had, has been shifted to the batsmen. However, some bowlers have not given up and have been taking wickets consistently. These individuals have recorded the best bowling average in IPL even with the pressure of the big stages. In IPL, bowlers who record the most wickets receive the Purple Cap.

In the 2021 edition, the leading wicket-taker is Harshal Patel, who has 17 wickets in 6 games. Here are IPL top 5 wicket-takers;

Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in this IPL top 5 bowler list. He's competed for the Mumbai Indians since the 2009 IPL season but retired after the 2019 IPL finals. His farewell was the best as he was the hero of the match.

Even after retiring, his stats remain to tell the story as one of the greatest IPL bowlers. In 122 innings, he got 170 wickets. The veteran bowler's best bowling figure in IPL is 5/13 and economy 7.14. Malinga was the highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League 2011 with 28 wickets and won the Purple cap.

Amit Mishra

Amit Mishra is among the top 5 bowlers in IPL and plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He had played for CD from IPL 2008 to IPL 2010 but then moved to Deccan Chargers from IPL 2011 to 2012. In IPL 2013 and 2014, he appeared for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since the 2015 IPL, he has been playing for Delhi Capitals.

Amit is the second-highest wicket-taker after Malinga in the IPL. He has a record of 160 wickets in 150 innings and an economy of 7.34. Amit's best bowling figure in the IPL is 5/17.

Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla, one of the bowling sector's early impacts, is the third-highest wicket-taker in the IPL. He has played for Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2013 IPL. From 2014 to 2019, Chawla played for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Chawla then moved to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020, but the team dropped him during the IPL 2021 auction. Mumbai Indians bought Piyush for Rs. 2.4 crore.

In 163 innings, the left-arm spinner grabbed 156 wickets with an average of 27.32 and had an economy of 7.87 in the IPL. Chawla's best bowling figure in the league is 4/17.

Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo, the West Indian all-rounder, no longer has the pace he had before. However, he has grown to become the best T20 bowler in the world. Dwayne has many variations, and his slow ones are hard to get under. However, with him hitting the Yorkers, he picks many wickets, reducing the run flow.

He plays for Chennai Super Kings, and in 2013 IPL, he grabbed 32 wickets, and it's still a record for the most number of wickets in one edition. He is in the fourth spot in the highest wicket-takers with 153 wickets in 140 matches.

Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is a player of passion and talent. He is the fastest fifty in the ipl and fifth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL history. He has a record of grabbing 150 wickets in 160 matches and has an economy of 7.05 in the IPL. Singh's best bowling figure in the IPL is 5/18.

Harbhajan Singh played for Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2017 in IPL, and in both 2018 and 2019, he was in the Chennai Super Kings squad. However, he did not appear in the 2020 IPL. For the 2021 IPL, he is playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders after being auctioned for Rs. 2 crores.

Even with the attention going to the batsmen, bowlers are giving their best. All the best to the bowlers in the remaining part of the IPL 2021!
