Four Arrested with Heroin During Vehicle Check

PHAGWRA: Police have arrested four young men and recovered heroin during a routine high-tech checkpoint operation.

SSP Gaurav Toora stated that the arrests were made during a late evening vehicle checking operation at a fortified checkpoint. A silver car bearing registration number PB08-EB-6728 approaching from the Amritsar side was signaled to stop. Upon inspection under proper lighting, four occupants were found inside the vehicle.

The driver identified himself as Jobanpreet Singh, also known as Jeban, a resident of Baba Bakala . The front passenger was identified as Sohang Prakash, also known as Abi, resident of Phagwara. Two others seated in the rear were identified as Nitesh, also known as Nishu, and Karish, both residents of Guru Nanak Nagar in Jalandhar.

During the checking, one of the occupants allegedly attempted to discard a small packet near roadside drums. Police personnel immediately recovered the packet and upon questioning, it was revealed to contain heroin. The substance was later confirmed to be approximately 30 grams. The accused were taken into custody and a case was registered under relevant provisions of law. The vehicle used in the incident was also seized.
