AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the desecration of the holy forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by a person in Kaulpur village of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir and has asked for strict action against the culprit.
Advocate Dhami said that this is a very sad case, which has deeply hurt the Sikh sentiments.
He said that when the entire Panth is celebrating the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the occurrence of such incidents seems to be part of a deep conspiracy.
He said that the government should immediately find out this conspiracy and give exemplary punishment to the culprits. The Shiromani Committee President said that the deliberate desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a direct attack on the sentiments of the nation, which the nation cannot tolerate. Such incidents are the result of the laxity of the governments and lax action against such anti-Panth elements. Because whenever such unfortunate acts come to light, the culprits easily escape. If there is exemplary action and punishment, then no one will dare to commit such acts.
Meanwhile, Advocate Dhami has sent member Gurmeet Singh Booh, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhishek, Secretary Partap Singh and S. Harbinder Singh, in-charge of Sikh Mission Jammu and Kashmir, to the incident site in Jammu and Kashmir and sought a complete report.
He has also directed that action be taken to save the affected holy image and also take responsibility for legal action.
