KAITHAL: Before Diwali, a joint team of Food Safety Department, CM Flying and CID took a major action to crack down on adulterators in sweet markets. The team raided the isolated factory of Shiv Shakti Mishthan Bhandar on Kaithal Jind Road and recovered 175 quintals of sweets prepared of poor quality. The factory owner and employees fled the spot as soon as they got wind of the raid.
When the team reached inside the factory, even the officials were shocked to see the situation. There was gross negligence in the name of cleanliness in the factory. Dead flies were floating in tubs filled with rasgulla, chamcham and . were not even installed to cover the sweets. The environment of the factory premises was unbearable due to dirt and foul smell. During the investigation, the team came to know that sweets were being prepared in the factory using poor quality milk, synthetic colors and tasteless chemicals, which were to be supplied on a large scale to the local markets. Inspector of Food Safety Department, Dr Pawan Chahal told that in view of Diwali, a special campaign is being run in the district. Under this campaign, the team had received information that poor quality sweets were being manufactured in a factory by the name of Shiv Shakti Mishthan Bhandar. Samples of 175 quintals of goods were sealed from the spot and sent for testing. After the report comes, strict legal action will be taken against the accused. He appealed to the general public to be cautious while buying sweets during festivals and buy sweets only from licensed and reputed shops.
