KAITHAL: An elderly man lost his life during a violent property dispute in the Chika police station area on Sunday. The police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against six accused — Bhojraj, Karna, Mukesh, Umesh, Sachin, and Ajay — based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s son, Anil Kumar.
According to the complaint, the deceased, Noria Mal, who was a heart patient, collapsed and died after being pushed to the ground while trying to stop the accused from forcibly dismantling his shop.
Anil Kumar stated that on October 1, the accused had first come to the shop with the intention of taking possession but fled when the police were called. However, on October 5, they returned armed with hammers and other tools, broke open the shop’s shutter, and tried to seize it. When Noria Mal intervened, Mukesh and Umesh allegedly pushed him, followed by Bhojraj and Ajay, causing him to fall and suffer a fatal collapse.
The family rushed Noria Mal to Patiala for treatment, but he succumbed to his condition on the way.
Anil Kumar further revealed that his father and two brothers, Chudiya and Bhojraj, jointly owned the property, and the accused were aware of this ownership but still tried to take illegal possession of a portion of the shop.
Investigating Officer Shamsher Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the six accused, and a detailed investigation into the matter is underway considering the gravity of the offence.
