KAITHAL: The American journey of 14 youths from Kaithal district, who dreamed of a better life abroad, ended in jail and shackles. The American administration has deported all the youths and sent them to India on charges of illegal entry. These youths reached America by crossing dangerous forests and borders through the ‘Donkey Route’.

Now, after being dropped at Delhi airport late on Saturday night, the police brought everyone to the Kaithal police line and started interrogating them. The age of the deported youth is between 25 to 40 years. Some had sold their farms and lands, while others had taken loans worth lakhs and moved towards the country of dreams. These include Naresh of Taragarh, Karna of Peedal, Mukesh of Agrasen Colony, Hrithik of Kaithal, Sukhbir Singh of Jadaula, Amit of Habri, Abhishek of Buchi, Mohit of Batta, Ashok Kumar of Pabnawa, Ashish of Serdha, Damanpreet of Habri, Prabhat of Sisla and Satnam Singh of Dhand. DSP Lalit Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that all these youths had reached America with the help of tourist visa or fake documents. Some did not even have any valid documents.

They were caught there during the verification of documents. After keeping them in jail for several months, the American administration tied them all in chains and sent them to India by plane. DSP Lalit Yadav said that at present the interrogation of all the youth is going on. Except one youth, no criminal record of anyone has come to light so far, the rest of the youth will be handed over to their families after documentary verification. It is noteworthy that in February this year also, 7 youths from Kaithal district were deported from America, which included youths from Kalayat, Mataur, Kakaut, Ramnagar and Guliyani villages. The continuously increasing Donkey Route cases have once again exposed the reality of the illegal immigration network.

Police took a young man into custody:

Police investigation has so far revealed two old cases against Taragarh resident Naresh Kumar. One was related to cheque bounce and the other to liquor smuggling. He was absent from court in both cases and had fled abroad. Now he will be produced in the court. The police have currently taken the youth into custody.

Arrested after climbing the wall:

A deported youth told that two years ago he sold his one and a half acre land and reached America via the Donkey Route through the forests of Panama. On the way he had to go through death-like situations. Passing through the dense jungles of Panama, dangerous roads, swamps and sea routes, he somehow reached the US border, but as soon as he crossed the wall, American agencies arrested him and put him in jail. After being in jail for two years, he has now been sent to India.

No complaint has been received yet against any agent:

Police said that till now no youth has filed a complaint against the agents or brokers who had taken lakhs of rupees and sent them abroad illegally. If any complaint comes, strict action will be taken against them.

Returned to his country after spending 14 months in jail:

Naresh a youth narrated his story .

I came to India on Saturday after being deported from America's jail. Went to Brazil from Delhi on January 9, 2024. There he came in contact with Panipat resident agents Ashish Kumar and Sunil Kumar. Both of them had taken Rs 57.5 lakh to send me from Brazil to America via Dunki. I sold about one acre of my land in the village and collected Rs 42 lakh and the remaining money on interest. In March 2025, both were given Rs 42 lakh. Started the journey via Dunki in June. Went further through the forests of Panama. Donkar did not even provide proper food. When he reached Guatemala, Donkar took six lakh rupees from him. When he reached Mexico City from there, six lakh rupees were taken there. From there, about three lakh rupees were taken in the name of sending him to America after crossing the Tejwana border. Even after taking the money, I was sent to America from another border and was caught by the police as soon as I reached there. It took me about two months to do the donkey route. Since then I was in jail. A large number of Indians are lodged in America's jails and camps. Many planes are yet to come to India. I would like to tell the youth with folded hands that no youth should go to America through the donkey route.-----Victim youth Naresh Kumar told.
