CHANDIGARH:Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President and Member Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann has out rightly rejected the notification issued by the government at the centre with regard to two ordinances in the name of agrarian reforms, berating the Badals and raising questions of propriety over the working style of the Captain government.
In a statement issued from party headquarters on Thursday, Bhagwant Mann, while addressing Capt Amarinder Singh, questioned: "You (Chief Minister) had agreed in principal at the all-party and farmers' organizations meet, convened by you through a special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, where a resolution was unanimously passed to repeal the three controversial, which were anti-agriculture, anti-farmer and anti-Punjab? Why are you now running away from your commitment? If the Modi govt and your own government can take 20 other suicidal and anti-state decisions during the Corona epidemic, why sre you procrastinating on convening a special Vidhan Sabha session to repeal these ordinances”
Bhagwant Mann said that although 50 per cent MLAs with 2-day odd-even sitting formula was acceptable, provided the ordinances being forced on the farmers of Punjab by the Central may be tweaked through the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
Slamming the Badal family, Mann said that by forcing these ordinances, the Modi government had not only demolished the federal structure but had also divested the state of its legitimate rights, adding that it was aimed at doing away with the market structure of the state, opening floodgates of open ‘loot’ of not only of ‘arhtiyas’ but also the mandi fees collected by the Punjab government. He said that in the name of open market, the MSP had been neutralized by leaving the farmers at the mercy of corporate houses. Taking a swipe at the Badals, Mann said “While the Modi govt has written everything on the wall, when you (Badal) will make the supreme 'sacrifice' that you (Badal) have been referring to for 2 generations?”
Mann, while condemning the Captain govt for slapping cases against the farmers' organizations and AAP leaders protesting against the BJP government at the Center against these ordinances, why was Punjab Government disturbed?
