CHANDIGARH: Former senior officers of IAS, IPS, Army and Provincial Services,   who have been associated with Kisan Andolan from the very beginning through Kirti Kisan Forum held a special meeting in Chandigarh today where they congratulated the farmers' organizations regarding the proposed repealing of the 3 farm laws as announced by the PM and wished them a happy future.

At the meeting, they also had a discussion on the challenges in the future. “Not to indulge in any political activity was a wise decision of the Punjab based Kisan Unions when they were engaged in the Kisan Andolan, but after scoring a first victory pertaining to the proposed withdrawal of the 3 farm laws by the Prime Minister, the expectations of people from leaders of Kisan Andolan have gone up manyfold. People of Punjab for long are in search of a political alternative of Governance”, said Forum in a resolution passed at the meeting. At the meeting it was opined that Kisan Unions should take part in the political process in view of the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in the state.

It was not an easy task to fight such a united prolonged battle on issues related to the farm sector by different Kisan Unions. Their success has paved the way for bringing a social and economic change not only in Punjab but also in the country, the forum said in its resolution.

The Forum appreciated the support extended by the Farmers Welfare Society of Punjab, the Jagda Punjab and the MASCUT to the Kisan Andolan.
