Sikh high priests release the calendar of Nanakshahi Sammat 554

AMRITSAR: The calendar of Nanakshahi Sammat 554 (Year 2022-23) was released today by Panj Singh Sahiban. Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Giani Malkit Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

On this occasion Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that this year's Nanakshahi calendar is dedicated to the first centenary of the martyrdom of Sri Panja Sahib, as this massacre is of great significance in Sikh history.

He said that during his recent visit to Pakistan he had also held talks with the representatives of Pakistan government regarding the memorial of the massacre at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, to which a positive response has been received.

He said that the historic days of the nation were an inspiration to connect the new generation with their heritage and history.
On this occasion Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh congratulated the Sangat on the occasion of New Nanakshahi year and urged them to observe Gurpurab and other historical days according to Nanakshahi calendar.

He said that it was a good thing that on the eve of Nanakshahi year special gurmat ceremonies were organized by the SGPC every year in Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall Amritsar and other historical gurdwaras and the sangat should participate in these ceremonies as much as possible.

The members of Shiromani Committee Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, members of Dharam Prachar Committee Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, S. Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu, Additional Secretary Partap Singh, Dr. Mr. Paramjit Singh Saroya, Deputy Secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Secretary Singh, Gurmeet Singh Butter, Tejinder Singh Padda, Simarjit Singh, Superintendent Malkit Singh Bahirwal, Manager Jaspal Singh Dhade etc. were present.
