AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has announced to take a national opinion to decide on withdrawing the petition filed in 2012 in the case of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. After meeting Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana recently, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today held a meeting with the leaders of representative organizations of the Sikh community and discussed the petition.
Talking to Media, persons here after the meeting, Advocate Dhami said that in the meeting held today with representatives of Nihang Singh organizations, Damdami Taksal and some other sects, a common suggestion has been received that the general opinion of the nation is absolutely essential for the decision to withdraw the petition regarding Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana.
In view of this, a representative Sikh gathering from all over the world will be called.
He said that during his meeting with Bhai Rajoana the other day, he had asked the Shiromani Committee to withdraw his petition and had talked about taking a decision in this regard without delay.
Advocate Dhami said that the Shiromani Committee had filed the petition in view of the national voice, but it is a matter of regret that even after a long time, the government has taken a negative attitude towards it.
He said that Bhai Rajoana's feelings are also not wrong, because he is firm towards his intention and goal, but the matter of the petition is now not only of the Shiromani Committee but of the entire Sikh Panth.
He said that the Shiromani Committee cannot move forward without the opinion of the Panth to take a decision in this regard. Accordingly, discussions have been held with representatives of some organizations today, according to whose suggestion a representative gathering of the Sikh community will be called soon. Since this matter is directly related to national sentiments, the opinions of all religious, political, social organizations and Sikh scholars and intellectuals will be collected.
Advocate Dhami said that suggestions will also be sought to form an international level Sikh opinion in this regard. This entire work will be done without delay within a short time. He said that the Shiromani Committee is continuously working for the release of all the imprisoned Sikhs, but the stubborn attitude of the governments is being seen as anti-national. He said that since the case of Bhai Rajoana is related to the petition, the Shiromani Committee will rise above politics and reach out to every party to take a decision. This is a common Panthic work, for which every sincere Sikh and organization should come forward to contribute in it.
