Speculations Based on Incomplete Information Refuted: GNDU Issues Clarification
AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has removed Guru Nanak Dev University Vice Chancellor Dr. Karamjit Singh from the committee formed to review the service rules of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib after he hurt Sikh sentiments during a discussion with the RSS chief.
Giving information in this regard, SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said that in a video going viral on social media, Dr. Karamjit Singh is seen expressing anti-Sikh ideology during a conversation with the RSS chief.
In view of the objections received from the Sangat, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has removed Dr. Karamjit Singh from the committee formed to discuss the service rules regarding the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The Public Relations Department of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has issued an official statement clarifying that certain media outlets and individuals have been spreading baseless speculations regarding a Vice-Chancellors’ meeting held in Kochi.
According to the statement, GNDU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Karmjeet Singh attended the aforementioned meeting in Kochi upon an official invitation from the organizing association.
During the event, he shared details about significant projects undertaken by the university, including the digitization initiative to promote the Punjabi language, environmental campaigns, and efforts to spread Sikh consciousness.
The statement further clarified that invitations to the chief guests and other individuals for the event were extended by the organizers from Kochi University. The Vice-Chancellor of GNDU had no direct role in issuing invitations or organizing the event.
Guru Nanak Dev University Vice Chancellor Dr. Karamjit Singh, while participating in a function of Vice Chancellors organized by Amrita University Kochi, did not say anything that would hurt Sikh sentiments. The views expressed by him were in line with Sikhism, not at all adverse.
