AMRITSAR: During today's meeting of the Interim Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the authority to nominate a new member of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee on behalf of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee was authorised to Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Speaking to media after the gathering, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that one member is nominated by the SGPC in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. He said that on August 23 in the Delhi Committee, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had asked Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa's name was sent as a member, but due to cancellation of his membership by the Director Gurdwara Election, a new name will now be sent as a member.
He said that the authority in this regard has been handed over to him by the Interim Committee and nomination would be made soon.
SGPC President Advocate Dhami said that the imposition of charges against Sajjan Kumar, accused in the Delhi Sikh massacre, in connection with the murder of two Sikhs in Delhi's Raj Nagar was a matter of consolation for the Sikh families.
He said that apart from Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, many other leaders including Jagdish Tytler were also involved in the Sikh massacre and every culprit should be severely punished.
The SGPC President said that the Congress party was the enemy of the Sikhs and it was a pity that even today the perpetrators of the Sikh genocide were being rewarded by the Congress with high positions. In response to a question during the discussion, Advocate Dhami slammed the government's advertisements on the big screens on the heritage route to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.
He said that screens were set up on this route during the Akali government to broadcast Gurbani. Now the Congress government of Punjab is using them for its own interests, which is hurting the minds of the devotees.
He said that the government should stop its propaganda and immediately start Gurbani Kirtan.
