CM fails to raise issue of Haryana's occupation of BBMB with the PM during recent meeting: Bikram Majithia
CHANDIGARH: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today condemned chief minister Bhagwant Mann for ceding control of the Bhakra Beas Management Board by allowing the appointment of a Haryana official as Member, Irrigation of the BBMB.
In a statement here, the SAD leader castigated the chief minister for failing to raise the issue of Haryana's occupation of BBMB during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently. “I nstead of talking about the rights of Punjab, the chief minister was more concerned about being in the good books of the central government”.
Asserting that the centre’s decision to appoint a senior officer of Haryana as a member of BBMB (Irrigation) was a betrayal with Punjab, Mr Bikram Majithia said this happened because the chief minister failed to stress upon the need to appoint Members from officers of Punjab.
Majithia said instead of doing anything concrete the Aam Aadmi Party government indulged in a fake drama of protest which further compromised the interests of the State with the centre deploying additional para military forces for security of the Nangal dam. Asserting that the chief minister should be ashamed of his actions, Mr Majithia said “history will never forgive you. You have cheated Punjab and Punjabis.
