CHANDIGARH: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parambans Singh Romana today challenged Dakha legislator Manpreet Singh Ayali to deny that he had got his land excluded from the land pooling scheme even as adjoining land belonging to poor farmers had been notified for acquisition besides releasing documents to prove illegal government concessions taken by Ayali from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Parambans Romana said Manpreet Ayali had become totally silent on the AAP government’s land grabbing scheme whereby it wanted to take forcibly possession over 24, 000 acres of land in Ludhiana district alone because the government had “adjusted” him and excluded all land controlled by him from the scheme.
The SAD leader also asked Ayali to disclose what “settlement” he had done with the AAP leadership to secure this reprieve besides condemning him for
Romana showed documents and maps to show how one chunk of land including a 28 acre plot of Avanta Enclave owned by the Ayali family besides another 7.5 acres had been left out of the ambit of the land pooling scheme even as adjoining land belonging to poor farmers had been included in the scheme. He also cited how another chunk of land (Mastile no 70) comprising 20 acres as many as eight acres belonging to Ayali had been left out of the land pooling scheme even as the remaining 12 acres had been notified for acquisition.
Asserting that this was not all, Mr Romana said the AAP government also had documents which proved Ayali’s illegal activities. He said the Ayali family had developed a colony – Avanta Enclave over 28 acres of land during the course of which it committed several illegalities including a built up area of 70 per cent instead of 55 per cent as mandated by government law. Mr Romana said when a scheme was launched to get all illegal colonies which had come up before 2018 to be regularized by paying a nominal fee of Rs 3 crore; Ayali submitted documents to claim that Avanta Greens was constructed in 2015.
Stating that Ayali had lied to escape a penalty of Rs 55 crore, the SAD leader showed google images from 2017, 2018 and 2019 when Avanta Enclave was a barren piece of land and from 2020 when kutcha roads first started being built in the Enclave. Giving details of how this illegality was committed, Mr Romana said Ayali procured stamps in back date to do agreements with his customers but this scam was exposed when the Vigilance department approached the customers. “Now the AAP government has details of the entire scam and chief minister Bhagwant Mann even referred to this during the Ludhiana West by-elections to silence him”.
