SAD asks CM not to resort to cheap politics of blaming rivals for recent spate of horrendous incidents

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi to recognise his responsibility towards Punjabis and not resort to cheap politics of alluding recent spate of horrendous incidents to political rivals to hide his own failures.

Condemning the statement of the chief minister in which he alleged that recent horrific incidents of sacrilege and even the Ludhiana bomb blast had occurred after the Congress government registered a case against former minister Bikram Majithia, SAD Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the chief minister had touched a new low. “It is unfortunate that the reins of the State are in the hands of a man who is playing into the hands of anti- national agencies by refusing to investigate their hand in the recent cases which are aimed at disturbing the peace of Punjab and instead is blaming his political rivals for the same. Such statements will only help the international agencies who are behind these inhuman incidents”.

Dr Cheema said maintaining law and order was the responsibility of the chief minister and Mr Channi could not escape this responsibility. He said the chief minister should expedite the probe into the recent cases of sacrilege as well as the Ludhiana bomb blast instead of politicising this issue. “Punjab and Punjabiyat will pay a very heavy price if the Congress government does not make amends immediately and identify the agencies responsible for these acts as well as the conspiracies behind them”, Dr Cheema added.
