PPCC president Raja Warring seeks central intervention against land pooling in Punjab

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | July 30, 2025 06:41 PM

CHANDIGARH:  Taking recourse to the pro-farmer Land Acquisition Act enacted during the UPA government under Dr Manmohan Singh, Punjab Congress president and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today sought central government’s intervention to protect the land of Punjab farmers from being snatched by the Aam Aadmi Party government under the “land pooling policy”.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha today, Warring said that the Punjab government was forcibly trying to snatch about 50, 000 acres of land from the farmers without their consent and even without providing them any compensation.

Quoting the policy, he said, the farmers were being offered back just one-fourth of the land the government wanted to take from them, without any other compensation. He said the government was trying to force and intimidate the farmers to part with their land with threats that they can never get the land use changed in future.

The Ludhiana MP said that there was grave resentment and unrest among the farmers against this policy of the AAP government on a similar scale as against the three central farm laws.
