AMRITSAR: Taking cognizance of the complaints received from the Sikh community, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has sent an email to various AI platforms expressing its objections by taking notice of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to provide incorrect information about Gurbani, Sikh history and Gurmat.
The AI platforms that have been written by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee include Chat GPT, Deepseek, Grok, Gemini AI, Meta, Google, VO3, Descript, Runway ML, Pictory, Magisto, Invideo, Dell-E2, Midjourney, DPAI and others.
In this regard, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Sikhism has its own fundamental traditions, which no one can be allowed to change. In the era of technology, the unscrupulous acts of hurting Sikh sentiments by tampering with the history and pictures of Sikh Gurus through Artificial Intelligence are causing deep hurt to the hearts of Sikhs.
For Sikhs, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is supreme, in which no kind of tampering with the Gurbani recorded in it can take place, but such apps are depicting the holy verses of Gurbani in a wrong way, which is a sacrilege of Gurbani.
said that the Shiromani Committee has received many objections in this regard, in view of which an email has been sent to the AI platforms asking them to stop the spread of wrong information.
He said that various AI platforms are providing content that misrepresents respected Sikh religious figures, holy scriptures and Sikh symbols. The younger generation tries to learn about their history, traditions and beliefs through the use of technology, but the incomplete and incorrect information they are getting through AI is proving to be detrimental to the principles of religion.
He also said that many Gurbani apps do not have Gurbani in its pure form, which is also being taken action by the Shiromani Committee.
He said that this is a very serious matter and the Shiromani Committee will also take the cooperation of people and institutions working in this field.
He also appealed to the Sangat not to get incomplete. information from such apps, but to use only historical sources regarding Sikh history and traditions.
Along with this, the SGPC President also appealed to the Home Minister of India, Mr. Amit Shah, to take note of this serious issue and to make arrangements to prevent such behavior by formulating a concrete policy.
