'Dhahan Scholarship' announced at KCA for Punjabi Scholars

AMRITSAR: A 'Dhahan Scholarships' of Rs. 1.00 lakh each was today announced for the senior MA students of department of Punjabi, Khalsa College, here today. The award will be given every year to needy and bright students to be selected by Dhahan Award Committee, said Principal Dr.Atam Singh Randhawa, adding that this year two students namely Navdeep Kaur and Lovepreet Kaur have been selected for the award.

He said the amount has already been transferred to the accounts of two students by Punjabi literature propagator Barjinder Singh Dhahan and Harinder Kaur Dhahan from canada. This is the highest amount of award money ever given in the College. He said the College has entered into the MoU with the Dhahan Committee to give an award for coming three years, said HoD of the department Dr.Hira Singh. The award is given on the basis of test and interview of the aspiring students, out of which Navdeep Kaur and Lovepreet Kaur were selected. He said that after the information regarding the selection of these students was sent to the Dhahan Committee, they have directly deposited an amount of Rs. 1 lakh each in the bank accounts of both the students as scholarships.
