Peasant struggle being deliberately defamed - Bibi Jagir Kaur

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur termed yesterday's incident at Singhu border as tragic and said that such unfortunate incidents would not have taken place if the government was serious about resolving the issue of farmers.

She demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident at Singhu Border and said that the truth should come out and it should also be clear which powers were deliberately trying to defame the Sikhs.
She said that some people were deliberately trying to tarnish the image of the peasant struggle and as a result such incidents were taking place.
She said that the government was not resolving the issue of farmers sitting at Singhu border for more than 10 months.
On the other hand, conspiracies to discredit the peasant struggle are worrisome.
Meanwhile Bibi Jagir Kaur the President
of the SGPC called on the President of the Managing Committee at Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib.
She also strongly condemned the push and punch made during the function in the interest of Avtar Singh.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that mistreatment at shrines could not be tolerated and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that disrespecting the responsible personalities of the Sikh community was an act of defamation of the community.
Bibi Jagir Kaur also strongly condemned the re-entry of Afghan militants into the Gurdwara Karte Prawan in Kabul.
She said that Sikhs living in Afghanistan were being harassed continuously. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that due to this climate of fear Sikhs are not able to do their business properly.
She appealed to the Government of India to ensure the safety of Sikhs living in Afghanistan.
