KKF resolves to extend support to various organizations fighting against pollution

CHANDIGARH: At a meeting held at Chandigarh on Saturday, the Kirti Kisan Forum discussed the format and the subject matter of the website it has planned to launch soon. The meeting was presided by former Secretary to the Union Government Swaran Singh Boparai and it was co-chaired by former Chief Secretary, Punjab, Mr Ramesh Inder Singh. Members of the forum resolved to propagate the objective of the forum behind launching the website.The site would mainly focus on agriculture, issues related to rural development and problems faced by the farmers and farm labour.

It would also discuss the issues related to Punjabi language, culture and literature. The forum appreciated the efforts being made by the Public Action Committee at Ludhiana to ensure the clean environment including water and air to the people of Ludhiana and adjoining areas. The forum praised the agitation launched by the PAC against the pollution of the Budha Nala and other water streams at Ludhiana.

The forum said that it would extend its full support to the various organisations fighting peacefully and democratically against the pollution of the river waters of Punjab. It was felt that Punjab is passing through the critical times and rural people have been hit hard by unemployment, rising prices and persisting poverty. Among those who attended the meeting included Kulbir Singh Sidhu, Iqbal Singh Sidhu, G K Singh Dhaliwal, Harkesh Singh Sidhu, Ran Singh Dhaliwal, Gurdeep Singh, Col Malwinder Singh Guron( retd), Col Avtar Singh Heera(retd), Sarbjit Singh Dhaliwal, Nirpal Singh Tiwana, Jarnail Singh and Parminder Singh Gill.
