AMRITSAR: Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj met the Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana detained in the gallows in Central Jail Patiala today.
On this occasion, Jathedar Gargajj held Panthic and Gurmat discussions with Bhai Rajoana and personally prayed for the progress of Bhai Sahib and later offered him a drink of the deg of Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib.
After the meeting, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana is a treasure of the Sikh community and the entire Panth should respond unitedly against the government's discriminatory attitude towards his release.
He said that the Sikhs imprisoned in jails have completed their sentences and not releasing them also makes it clear that the government has an indifferent attitude towards the Sikhs.
In response to a question, Jathedar Gargajj said that on June 6, the occasion of the Martyrdom Day of 1984 Ghallughara, while national unity should be expressed while paying respect and homage to the martyrs, everyone should also be committed to guarding the duties towards the respect and reverence of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
On this occasion, Head Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib Bhai Pranam Singh, Interim Committee Member Surjit Singh Garhi, Member Ravinder Singh Khalsa, S.Jasmer Singh Lachhru was also with him. Jathedar Gargajj said that the 41st anniversary of Ghallughara Diwas will be celebrated on June 6 and during this while paying homage to those martyrs, it is the duty of every Sikh to guard his duties towards the respect and reverence of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
He said that during the meeting, Bhai Rajoana has also said in his message that the national days of the Sikh community should be celebrated according to Panthic traditions and rituals and the respect of Sri Akal Takht Sahib should also be maintained.
Bhai Rajoana assured Jathedar Gargajj of full cooperation and said that everyone should cooperate with the respected Jathedar and avoid any kind of conflict.
Bhai Rajoana informed that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has been appointing Jathedars for a long time and all the Singhs who are given responsibility by the Sikh organization are given full respect and honor.
Bhai Rajoana prayed before the Guru for the progress of the Khalsa Panth.
He said that the respect and honor of Sikh organizations should not be lowered from any aspect.
Jathedar Gargajj said that while there is a need to understand the pain of the nation today, there is also a need to express unity in the Sikh community. He said that the martyrdom of national heroes can never be ignored, who have dedicated themselves for the progress of the Khalsa Panth and the nation.
Jathedar Gargajj appealed that Ghallughara Day should be celebrated without any disturbance in accordance with the Guru's teachings.
Jathedar Gargajj said that the double standards of the governments on the issue of Bhai Rajoana and the release of captive Sikhs are also coming to light.
He said that the government should not back down from its decision taken on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the year 2019.
Jathedar Gargajj termed the incident of desecration of Gutka Sahib near Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib as unfortunate.
He said that when national days like Ghallughara Diwas are being celebrated, such forces try to create some mischief, from which the Sikh community needs to be alert. He said that where there are conspiracies behind such incidents of desecration, the government should give exemplary punishments so that such incidents do not come to light again.
