SAD Blames AAP and Congress Govts for Industrial Decline and Local Hardships
TARN TARAN: Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former MLA from Khadoor Sahib constituency, today issued a strong statement holding the previous Congress administration and the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government accountable for the industrial decline affecting Goindwal Sahib and the hardships confronting its residents. Brahmpura emphasized that industrial projects initiated under the vision of SAD are on the brink of collapse due to successive governments' incompetence and indifference.
"It is deeply distressing that Goindwal Sahib, once prominently featured on the industrial map due to visionary initiatives by the Shiromani Akali Dal, including significant projects like the 540 MW thermal plant (GVK) and Nerolac Paints, is now crying out in despair, " stated Brahmpura. "While the AAP government tries to gain cheap popularity by acquiring the defunct thermal plant for approximately ₹1080 crore, they must confront the question: what new mega-projects have they brought to this border region in the last two and a half years? The harsh reality is that this government excels solely in taking credit for the accomplishments of the Akali Dal."
Brahmpura reflected on the legacy of his father, highlighting, "The contributions of the late Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, patron in the Shiromani Akali Dal, to this border region’s development are permanent. Throughout his tenure as a Cabinet Minister and MP, he championed our constituency’s interests, working diligently to attract major projects. Following his example, I secured significant grants for village panchayats during my time as MLA, focusing on improving basic infrastructure."
Detailing the failings of both Congress and AAP governments, Brahmpura elaborated, "The Congress party exhibited total neglect during its five-year rule, and the AAP is following a similar detrimental path. The vast Central Industrial Complex in Goindwal Sahib, spanning approximately 1200 acres, lies abandoned as a direct outcome of governmental apathy. The roads are in a deplorable state, and the Punjab Budget for 2024-25 failed to announce any major industrial package for our region, leaving the youth without employment opportunities. Furthermore, healthcare and educational facilities are in a lamentable condition. This industrial complex, once poised to shape the futures of thousands, has, due to flawed policies, become a glaring symbol of unemployment. This represents a grave betrayal of the people in our constituency."
Brahmpura urged the residents of Khadoor Sahib constituency to recognize the failures of both the Congress and AAP governments. "It is time for the community to awaken and acknowledge how development projects initiated by Shiromani Akali Dal have been sacrificed in the name of political indifference, " he asserted. "The Akali Dal government established industries and created employment opportunities in our border area, while the Congress and AAP governments have misled the populace with false promises and meaningless political theatrics."
The Shiromani Akali Dal is committed to advocating for the rights of the Khadoor Sahib constituency and will continue to hold these governments accountable. Our primary focus remains the development of our region, and we are dedicated to this mission.
