Death of 3 Patients at Jalandhar Civil Hospital due to Oxygen Supply Failure — AAP Govt Must Be Held Accountable

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | July 28, 2025 09:35 PM

CHANDIGARH: Rakesh Rathour, State General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab, expresses deep sorrow and anger over the tragic and avoidable deaths of three patients at the Trauma Centre of Jalandhar Civil Hospital due to oxygen supply failure. This shocking incident of negligence, as reported on July 27, once again exposes the total collapse of the healthcare system under the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government.

Despite tall claims and heavy advertisements, the reality in Punjab’s government hospitals remains grim and unsafe. The fact that a technical fault in the oxygen plant went unnoticed for crucial minutes, resulting in patients gasping for breath, is a clear indication of mismanagement and lack of preparedness.

Rathour demands that strict legal action be taken against those responsible. The Health Minister and Civil Surgeon must issue a public apology and be held personally accountable. A judicial inquiry should be conducted, not just a departmental formality.

Is this the "badlav" AAP promised — where patients die waiting for oxygen and mothers lose their daughters in agony?, questioned Rathour.

BJP Punjab stands with the families of the deceased and will raise this issue at the highest levels.
