Damdami Taksal warns SAD against out of court settlement in Op Blue star case against Center

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali dal (SAD) should not make mistake of reaching out of court settlement with union government in the court case related to Operation Blue Star in Golden Temple in June 1984. This was stated by Harnam Singh Khalsa head of Damdami Taksal and president Sant Samaj while talking to media persons at its headquarters in Mehta 45 km from here today.

Jasbir Singh Khalsa former Jathedar Akal Takht was also present in the press conferences.

Harnam Singh said that Damdami Taksal was a major force in countering the forces deployed by the Indira Gandhi government at the Golden Temple during the June 1984 operation .

He said that no agreement can be reached with the Center without the consent of the Sikh Sangat and Damdami Taksal.

He said that SAD was looking into the possibility of a compromise on the offer made by the Delhi High Court to both the parties to settle the matter amicably.

Damdami Taksal has warned the SAD president not to risk an out-of-court settlement as the matter is not only about compensation for financial loss but also about the dignity and sentiments of the Sikh community.

He said that the then President of the SGPC Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra had filed a case of financial damages against the Center for this attack and the Central Government should be held responsible for the attack. The military strikes on the sites were completely illegal.
