Woman Abducted After Midnight Assault in Phagwara Village; FIR Filed Against 10 Accused

PHAGWARA: In a shocking incident reported from village Babeli under Rawalpindi police station in Phagwara subdivision of Kapurthala district, a group of around 10 unidentified persons allegedly carried out a midnight attack and abducted a woman, triggering concern in the area.

According to information gathered, the incident occurred on the intervening night of March 18 and 19, when the assailants reportedly targeted Mohd Ishaaq, son of Wasir Ahmed, who had been residing for the past one month at the house of a Gujjar, Shamu (son of Ali Hussain), along with his wife Aksar Bano.

In his statement to the police, Ishaaq alleged that the attackers, suspected to be relatives of his wife from her previous marriage, forcibly entered the premises during the night and assaulted him before abducting Aksar Bano. Since the incident, her whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns about her safety.
Acting on the complaint, the police have registered FIR No. 25 dated March 18, 2026, at Rawalpindi police station, Phagwara. The named accused in the case include Ghulam Husain; Bania Bin, a resident of Brutial near Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh; Manzoor alias Manna, son of Wasir; Mohd Rafi, son of Farid Ahmed, a resident of Kot Fatuhi under Mahilpur police station in Hoshiarpur district; and Mohd Khan, son of Mir Husain, a resident of Lopa under Thathri police station in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Besides these, five unidentified persons have also been booked in the case.

Police officials stated that no arrests have been made so far. Efforts are underway to trace the abducted woman and apprehend the accused. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
