Congress Protests During Vote Counting at Kapurthala College, Alleges Irregularities

KAPURTHALA: Chaos erupted during the counting of Block Samiti and Zila Parishad votes at Prem Karamsar College in Nadala town of Kapurthala district after the Congress party staged a strong protest, alleging serious irregularities in the process. The party claimed that results for certain Block Samiti zones were declared in the absence of its candidates and counting agents.

During the protest,  Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira raised slogans against the Punjab government and demanded that the counting process be restarted. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party, fearing an impending defeat, was misusing the police and district administration to influence the outcome.

The Congress specifically alleged that the counting for the Sangojaala and Dayalpur Block Samiti zones was completed without the presence of Congress counting agents. When the party objected to the alleged violation, the administration assured them that a recount would be conducted to address the concerns raised.
