Says Mann chooses to divide states when nation is in war against Pak sponsored terror
Punjab has full right on its share of water and nobody can snatch it: asserts Bittu
NEW DELHI: Union Minister of state for Railways and Food processing today strongly rebuked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for raking up the issue of water dispute between Punjab and Haryana at a time of national emergecny when India is fighting Pakistann sponsored terrorism.
Bittu in a statement said that whole of India is in mourning and stands united against the merciless killing of 26 hapless tourists in Pehalgam in Kashmir. All political parties in one voice condemened the terror attack and wanted revenge from Pskistan. The nation's priority at this time is to show unity and make a strong offensive against Pakistan. Unfortunately, Bhagwant Mann choose this time to divide the states and play petty politics over national interests.
Bittu said Punjab was a border state and shares long border with Pakistan. India's PM and chiefs of armed forces were busy planning stragety to counter Pakistan but Bhagwant Mann had supported the cause of Pakistan. Mann is playing divisive politics withiut realising the mood of country. It is a cowardly act. Bittu described it a shameful act of Punjab CM and demanded an apology from him.
The Union Minister said that water dispute between Punjab and Haryana was not a new and not an issue at this juncture. He said that Punjab has full right on its share of river waters and nobody can snacth it. He said that holding inter-state meetings with Bhakra Beas Management Board to discuss flow of water and needs of the states is a routine matter and such meetings are held every year. But raising this issue now is condemnable.
