PHAGWARA: Three undertrial prisoners were injured in a violent clash between two rival groups inside Kapurthala Modern Jail this afternoon. The injured inmates were initially taken to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala for first aid and were later referred to Amritsar Medical College due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Dr. Jashan, who was on duty in the emergency ward, confirmed the identities of the injured as Manjinder Singh, Tejveer Singh, and Rajinder Singh. The trio was brought to the hospital by jail authorities for treatment.
A medico-legal report (MLR) of the incident has been prepared and sent to the Kotwali police station for further action.
Speaking on the matter, Station House Officer (SHO) Kirpal Singh of Kotwali police station stated that no formal written complaint or official intimation has been received yet from either the jail authorities or the hospital administration.
The reason behind the clash remains unclear, and further investigation is awaited.
