PHAGWARA: In a significant step toward empowering young women, the Sarab Naujawan Sabha, organized a certificate distribution ceremony for girls who completed vocational training courses. The event took place at the Blood Bank Hall, Guru Hargobind Nagar, Phagwara, and was led by Sabha President Sukhwinder Singh.
The occasion was graced by Dr. Akshita Gupta (IAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Phagwara, as the chief guest. DSP Bharat Bhushan Saini, Senior Deputy Mayor Tejpal Basra, Market Committee Chairman Tavinder Ram, AAP District Secretary Santosh Kumar Gogi, and Councillor Pritpal Kaur Tulli were among the special guests.
Dr. Gupta awarded certificates to 52 female trainees who successfully completed six-month vocational courses in Beautician, Home Care, and Elderly Nursing. She congratulated the girls and emphasized that women are the backbone of society and capable of excelling in every field. “In today’s era, girls have ample opportunities to grow and should strive to be self-reliant without hesitation, ” she said.
DSP Bharat Bhushan Saini applauded the Sabha’s initiative, stating that skill development enables girls to become economically independent and contribute to their families' income.
Other dignitaries echoed similar sentiments, encouraging young women to take interest in self-employment and pursue their goals with determination.
Sabha President Sukhwinder Singh shared that such vocational training—offered twice annually—is aimed at underprivileged girls from low-income families. In addition to certificates, participants also receive makeup tool kits upon course completion. He invited more girls to enroll in upcoming training sessions in Tailoring & Cutting, Beauty, Computer Applications, and Home Nursing.
The stage was efficiently managed by retired lecturer Harjinder Gogna. The Sabha also honored the chief guest and dignitaries during the event.
Several community members and volunteers, including Madan Lal Korotania, Rashpal Rai Gupta, Swarn Singh, Satnam Singh Rana, and others, attended the function along with a large number of trainees and their families.
