Bibi Jagir Kaur strongly condemned the incident at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib

AMRITSAR: Bibi Jagir Kaur President Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the unfortunate incident at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib has been strongly condemned.

In a press statement here today here on Monday, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the incident of a person smoking a cigarette in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, the center of Sikh faith, was highly reprehensible.

The SGPC President said that some anti-Sikh forces wanted to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab by committing heinous acts. Various tactics are being adopted for this.

She said that in recent times there have been many incidents of disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Punjab.

According to Bibi Jagir Kaur, a man named Paramjit Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, has been arrested in connection with the incident which took place at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at dawn today.

She said that the management of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib has registered a case against the accused under Section 295-A and handed over the accused to the police.

Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded from the administration that the motive behind the incident should be ascertained from the accused person and the powers behind it should be brought before the Sangat.

The SGPC chief said that despite the fact that the culprits of the incidents of indecency have been caught many times before, the motive behind the incident has not come to light due to which the incidents have been happening continuously.

She said that the culprits and the forces behind them should be exposed and severe punishment should be meted out to them to curb such incidents.
